Dyed Sheepskin Skiver

I am happy to announce yet another special leather to our growing list.

desktop skiver finishOften, sheepskin skivers have a sprayed on pigment finish, which covers the surface grain and leaves you with a flat featureless leather

Some are coated in a shiny varnish, which results in a leather with a glossy plastic finish. This is the kind of leather I am talking about on the left.

Desktop leather was varnished in the past, but this was done AFTER the leather had been mounted and any gold finishing done.

Finding good quality skivers which do not have a spray pigment finish, or are varnished in some way, has been a problem. So we are very satisfied to have found not only a good quality desktop skiver, but one that is dyed all the way through with water based dyes.

Each skin shows it's natural understated grain, the skins have a matt surface and polish up to a very fine lustre. They also take gold and blind tooling very well.

Each skin is shaved to 0.8mm. Average skin size is 12 sq ft.

Bookbinders: These quality leathers are most suitable as an economical choice when producing leather case bindings.

Here is a chart of the colours available, we have taken considerable trouble to get the colours right in this chart, so you can believe that the colour you see is close to reality. But your own monitor settings may alter the appearance of these colours. If you wish to be absolutely certain of a colour it is best to order a colour sample.

As you can see the colours are quite subdued, a good choice when carrying out restorations.

Price  only £6.27 per sq ft plus shipping & tax Average skin size 10 - 12 sq ft

NOTE: The prices above are the price per square foot of this material, but is sold by the full skin. the final price, including shipping will be calculated at a later time depending on the size of each individual skin available. Please contact me below. We accept payment via UK cheque or bank transfer for this leather.
