Clare Brooksbank is a very gifted foredge painter. She has been producing fore-edge paintings for the book trade since the early 1990s and has created probably close to 1000 works. During this time she has reproduced the work of numerous great masters, some of her favourites being Michaelangelo, Raphael, Breugal, Titian and many of the Pre-Raphaelites who are a common source of inspiration. She also enjoys painting erotic fore-edges which are always very popular.

June Campbell - The Altered Book
When I made my first AB in early 2003, I had no idea what I was doing. I wished for a web site that would give me the information I needed, in an easily located, straight-forward manner. When I didn't find what I needed, I decided to create an online resource for other altered book artists.

Michael O'Brian - New Zealand
I served an 8,000 hour apprenticeship, worked at hand binderies in Auckland and London and attended evening classes with David Sellars and Sally Lou Smith in the 1980's. I've been self-employed since 1988, moving to Oamaru in 1994.

Letterpress And Private Press's

http://ithyspress.com/

ITHYS PRESS is a fine-press publishing house based in Dublin, Ireland. We are exclusively dedicated to producing first editions of new works by today’s groundbreaking writers and previously unknown works by masters in the humanist tradition.

Popular Kinetics Pop-Up Press was founded as an artist's press in 1991. Our goal is to reveal the wonder of the book form through artist's editions and presentations, and to teach functional design, creative writing, and problem-solving through the making of books and pop-ups.

http://www.dewaldenpress.com/

book craftsDe Walden Press publishes Jan Kellett's limited edition miniature books. De Walden Press books are published in small editions. If you like letterpress, fine bindings, miniature books, innovative book design and original illustration make sure to visit us.

http://www.thecrankypress.ca/

The Cranky Press is a private press devoted to publishing the work of smart, cynical curmudgeons whose astute observations of human nature provide ample and amusing material with which to learn the craft of letterpress.

Ladies of Letterpress is a trade group devoted to the art and industry of letterpress printing. Membership is open to everyone.

http://letterpressworks.co.uk/

At Letterpress Works we print only by letterpress, using metal type and plates, onto the finest paper and card stock. The end product is distinctive: It is tactile, it is permanent, it stands apart from the mass produced fare of todays ‘copy shop’

Just like Gutenberg we cast all our own type from molten type metal, but no longer in the hand mould. We use Monotype, Intertype and Ludlow casting machinery from the 1960s, rescued from the scrapman over the last 20 years. Our ‘newest’ press dates from that time and our oldest and most prized press is a pre war Victoria platen once owned by Will Carter, the fine press printer and type designer, the founder of the Rampant Lions Press.
