DECORATIVE BOX MAKING TECHNIQUES

For the moment here are a few pictures detailing the covering of the book spines which we attached to many of the boxes. We covered our boxes in 0.3mm sheepskin which we dyed ourselves.

We made jigs to make the assembly of the boxes more predictable.

If you are thinking of covering boxes in leather, it needs to be thin. In times gone by it was possible to obtain sheepskin in very light weights, now most sheepskin is only available in 0.5mm, which is too thick.

But I found a supplier of sheepskin which is 0.3mm thick and just the right weight for what we need.
